This is a software that lets you edit large object data types in DB2 databases.
DB2LobEditor is a database tool that helps DBAs and Database Programmers edit DB2 LOB (BLOB, CLOB) data directly. You can use this tool to import or export these LOB data to/from the databases. The same editor is useful for multiple types of data including plain text, RTF, image, hex, html, xml etc. You’ll be able to view image data in several formats that includes JPEG, GIF, BMP, PNG, TIFF etc. Sometimes you encounter data whose type is unknown and thus cannot be assigned any meaning. You are allowed to edit at hexadecimal mode that would not affect the interpretation of the data. You can call external editor if more powerful editing features are needed for your work. Import/export is through dialog box pop-ups where you specify the schema, table, LOB field and the load path. Similar options are available for export.
The editing features make it easy to drill down to the place where you need to make changes. Usually the large data stored in the LOB fields in the databases are not easily correctable and you need an external database tool like this LOB editor. This will help you get down to binary bit level of the data if necessary. If the data interpretation is known you are able to view the data in that mode. For example, image data can be viewed as image and editing carried out. If you have to work with DB2 databases that often have the large data objects loaded, you are bound to get into situations where editing of these BLOB/CLOB data will be needed. This is a handy tool.
